Another Snowy Day PDF Print E-mail

We woke up this morning to lots of snow on the ground! It started snowing in the early hours of the morning and it has been snowing non-stop all day. On the news they said this has been a record snowfall, the highest ever recorded in the Dallas Fort Worth area! When I saw all the snow outside this morning, I was determined that this time we would go out and really play in it. I am so glad that we did. I armed myself (and Aiden, but he could care less) with lots of layers of clothes. I even put on my cuddle duds. It helped so much and I really stayed pretty warm!

Eagerly looking out the window, waiting to go outside and play!

Mr Snowman! When Carl looked at these pictures, he laughed. I guess the correct way to build a snowman is to roll balls of snow?? I thought we did a fine job!

The same height as Aiden!

Aiden couldn't get enough of the snow. He would have played out there for hours if I let him. We went back out after naptime and finally he came in and said "I'm fweezing". He promptly took a nice warm bath.

I thought I would throw this one in. This is my one and only snow in all my years growing up in South Africa. After now realizing in my adult years how cold it is when it snows, I am curious (mom) as to why I was in shorts??? :) Also do notice the nice grocery bags over my shoes protecting them from the snow...

... I realized today how effectively they work :)

It appears that back in your childhood you knew to roll the snow into balls for the snowman's various parts, but I must say your current snowman is much healthier looking - rather than turning out looking obese like when they get rolled ;) It also looks like your snowman in South Africa used up every last flake of snow that fell on the ground. Talk about efficiency :)

I am impressed that your snowman is so tall. He looks really good. Lots of fun. Melitsa, I think you have probably forgotten that at the time of the photo in SA any outfit you wore you insisted on wearing shorts with it. It wasn't very cold the day of the photo. We had made the snowman when the snow was falling the previous day and the photo was taken the day afterwards. You can see the snow has almost melted around the garden and the two of you don't look cold. You were both thrilled that the snowman was still there the next morning and in fact he lasted for about a week.

I really enjoyed your snowman. He looks sculpted rather than rolled! Aiden, did you enjoy making snow angels and a SNOWMAN?Chalk all your snow up to Global Warming. That's what accounts for all the moisture to make into snow!Obviously, Carl, we disagree on that subject! I've got a cartoon I want to send you. I loved your South African snowman and your mother's account of it.! Love you all, MOM/ Grandma Barnes

Great snow pictures! I enjoyed the comparison of South African snowman vs. American snowman...pretty funny. I read your mom's comment and that's cute about you wanting to wear shorts. :-)

Oh, and I have pics of my sister and I wearing grocery bags on our feet in snow when we were little, too. ha ha I think my grandma was the one who outfitted us with them. They do work. :-)

I think your snowman looks great! AS for the plastic bags...functional, but I'm not sure I'd brave them in public. :)
