Moments With Aiden
Monday, 05 October 2009

Since this blog, in many ways, is a journal of Aiden's childhood, I thought I would write down a couple very memorable moments that I have shared with Aiden lately.

A sweet, tender moment...

Everyday Aiden and I enjoy "snuggle time" on the couch. Since he is too heavy for me to carry him anymore, I try to make lots of time during the day where we can snuggle up and read books together or just play around on the couch with me giving him lots of hugs, kisses and tickles (and, of course, him returning the love). These are by far my most favorite times of the day with him! Well, a couple weeks ago, Aiden and I were enjoying our "snuggle time" together, when all of a sudden he stops, looks up at me and says, "Mommy, I wove you" then he pauses for a second and then says, "you're weally special". Yip, my heart melted right then and there. One of the sweetest moments in my life!! I love that boy!

A downright terrifying moment...

About a month ago, Aiden and I were heading out the house to run some errands. I opened the laundry room door that leads out into our garage and then leaned over to hit the button that opens the garage door. Aiden ran around to his side of the car so he could climb into his carseat, just like he always does. Except for this time. Instead of stopping at the car door, he kept running toward the garage door. In the blink of an eye, I see my son grab onto the the bottom of the garage door as it is going up and then watch as he is carried all the way to the top. His little hands holding on for dear life. I just about died of fright. I ran over to him as quickly as I could, fearing that his fingers would get caught when it stopped. I got to him just after he reached the top and was relieved to see that there was plenty of space for his hands. I then grabbed him down and wisked him inside for a stern talking to, most likely some discipline (I can't remember) and lots and lots of hugs, praising the Lord that my little guy was okay! Never in my life would I ever have thought he might do something like that. I really wonder what goes through his head sometimes??

Alumni Dinner
Monday, 21 September 2009

This past Saturday night we went to an alumni dinner for all the graduates from The Master's College in the Dallas/FortWorth area. The dinner was supposed to be a little more formal so, for the first time ever, we decided to hire a babysitter for the night so Carl and I could enjoy the evening together.

The dinner was held in downtown Dallas, in a tall skyscaper called the Reunion Tower. The dinner was catered by Wolfgang Puck and it was truly delicious! We really had a wonderful evening with friends, as well as hearing from the alumni director and the college's provost. We even got to see a short video giving highlights from the last year at the college. It was so fun to watch and took us back to our days at the college... such good times where we grew so much in our faith and developed lifelong friendships! We both agreed how God blessed us so much in allowing us to spend those years at Master's. Our lives are forever changed because of them!

Dallas skyline. I couldn't get a good picture with my camera, instead I got one off the internet so you can see how pretty the tower is at night!

Picture of us! The room actually revolves, but for some reason it wasn't that night.

"Cheese"
Monday, 21 September 2009

I'm sure by now you have noticed that Aiden definitely has some crazy smiles. The funny thing is that whenever I try to take pictures of him and ask him to "smile" or say "cheese", he never gives his real smile, rather he gives me some kind of scrunching up of his face and showing me his teeth. I guess this is what he thinks makes a good smile. It makes me laugh everytime!

Here is a short video of what he usually does when he sees me getting ready to take a picture, followed by some silly pictures of our "smiley" Aiden.

Labor Day Weekend
Tuesday, 08 September 2009

We stayed here for Labor weekend, even though we tossed around the idea of getting away for our anniversary. Maybe next year we can plan something special for our 5th anniversary.

We still enjoyed the long weekend and did some fun things!

Image
On Saturday night we went to Saltgrass Steakhouse to celebrate our anniversary. They have very yummy food!

Image
Very yummy indeed!

Image
Aiden enjoyed some cranberry juice!

Image
Apparently his dinosaur needed some too!

Image
I thought they looked so cute together :)

Image
We stopped by Home Depot and Aiden decided he wanted to keep his sunglasses on while he rode around in style!

Image
On labor day we headed to our local waterpark.

Image
This was the first time that we had been this year and it was so fun because Aiden was able to do so much more!

Image
He especially loved spraying mommy who was just happy to sit on the side and let the boys play!

CVS Summer Clearance
Tuesday, 08 September 2009

Last night we stopped in at CVS to get a couple things and we happened to walk past the summer clearance section. Everything was 90% and they still had tons of stuff. We all had a great time choosing some fun things that we can use for the rest of this summer and then save other things for next year.

If you have a CVS near you, and you are in need of a few new toys or even some gifts to give a way, I'm sure you could snag a few great deals.

We spent $10 on all of these toys and saved $100. Have I mentioned how much I love CVS :)

Night on the Town
Tuesday, 08 September 2009

The town of Denton that is. A couple weekends ago we decided to have a fun night out as a family. We had a wonderful evening without spending much money and we just adore the small town that we live in!

Image
First stop was Chuck E Cheese to use up some tokens we had left over!

Image
A fun time was had by all...

Image
... but I'm not sure who is the bigger kid :)

Image
Then we headed over to the town square.

Image
Aiden loves the old courthouse and wanted to go in.

Image
Then we stopped in at the recycled bookstore to find a book Carl had been looking for. Aiden liked this big hand!

Image
The last stop of the night was to get ice cream from Beth Marie's :)

Image
This picture cracks me up... "please stop taking pictures so I can eat my ice cream" :)

Image
Lastly a quick picture of my hubby and me :)
